Our fav restaurants
- Delicatessen tapasbar in Vervet
This trendy new tapas bar on the new section of the dock isn’t a traditional Norwegian dining experience, though it is really tasty! The food is really good, the vegan and vegetarian options are DELICIOUS (and varied), the atmosphere is great and the drinks menu pairs well with the food. https://delicatessen.no/en/tromso/ - Fullsteam – if you wish to try typical Norwegian food. The restaurant itself is on the old dock and full of memorabilia. If you are vegetarian or vegan your options are really only soup. The cocktails and mocktails are delicious and most of the food and drinks are locally sourced. http://fullsteam.no/
- Casa Inferno – best pizza in town, no doubt about it! They have good gluten free and vegan options as well. This is one of the restaurants where the service is always great, the pizza always great and generally you’ll have a reliably good evening. https://www.casainferno.no/
Top picks for cafes
Frø – Top pick for locally sourced ingredients and plant based foods, especially vegan and gluten free. Frø is especially known for their pancakes- peace, love and pancakes. Located on Storgata, this cafe is easy find and has plenty of space to sit down, take off the layers and relax over a coffee, a proper sweet chai latte or warm cup of assam tea. They have Senja Roasters coffee in their coffee machines, so you can try it before you buy it 🙂 Check out Frø here.
Kaffe Bønna – top pick for locations – there are four Kaffe Bønnas in Tromso! Known for baking great bread and pastries as well as having a variety of coffee available. Find them here: http://www.kaffebonna.no/
Top picks for nightlife
Balthazar – top pick for having such a strong name! This is a great spot to relax with friends and go over the highlights of your time in Tromsø. They have local drinks from Norway and are extremely knowledgeable – we recommend to ask them what you should try first! Find out more here.
VerdensTeatret (VT’s) – this is a cool spot where locals hang. They play vinyls, old films and on Saturdays they have a dj.
Ølhallen – Ølhallen is part of Tromsø’s history. It’s in the blood of the city. No visit to Tromsø is complete without dropping into Ølhallen. We recommend joining their brewery tour – you’ll get a glimpse of local history and have a laugh doing it!
